Wadhwa Advisory is a consulting practice led by Rajesh Wadhwa, advising enterprises on IT project delivery, digital transformation, and technology strategy. The practice works with companies across telecom, IT services, and fintech — and is particularly valuable for organisations that need to work with or deliver to India's government and public sector.

What sets the practice apart is the scale of Rajesh's operating experience. As full-time Director (Operations) on the Board of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) — at the time India's largest telecom company with ₹30,000 crore annual turnover — he was responsible for the company's pan-India operations spanning mobile, landline, broadband, and fibre-to-the-home, across a network reaching virtually every village in the country. He led BSNL's business process re-engineering programme, including the deployment of India's largest billing management and CDR (Call Detail Record) system, along with CRM, work order management, revenue accounting, and ERP across a workforce of over 200,000 people.

Before joining the BSNL Board, Rajesh spent 33 years in the Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS, Group A) — one of India's elite civil services for telecom and IT. By the end of his ITS career, he held the rank of Chief General Manager — the senior-most operational rank, equivalent in grade to an Additional Secretary to the Government of India. His last posting before BSNL was leading regional operations and IT strategy at Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), the government telecom company serving Delhi and Mumbai.

Since retiring in 2012, Rajesh has maintained an active consulting practice from the National Capital Region, working with multiple enterprises on IT delivery, digital transformation, and business strategy — including advisory roles at both technology and financial services firms. An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (B.Tech, First Class with Distinction) — one of India's most selective engineering institutions — and the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi (MBA), he brings five decades of accumulated experience to every engagement.

How the Practice Helps Enterprises

Strategic consulting grounded in decades of execution — not theoretical frameworks.

Large-Scale IT Project Delivery

End-to-end advisory on ERP deployment, data centre establishment, billing systems, CRM platforms, and enterprise IT architecture — from RFP design through go-live and user adoption.

Track record: Led India's largest billing and CDR systems deployment at BSNL — pan-India, covering billing management, CDR processing, CRM, work order management & revenue accounting

Digital Transformation & BPR

Redesigning operations through IT-enabled automation — billing, service delivery, revenue accounting, CRM, and work-order management. Driving technology adoption across large, complex organisations resistant to change.

Experience: Led BPR across every business vertical at BSNL — a workforce of 200,000+ employees across all Indian states

Telecom Strategy & Infrastructure

Network planning, spectrum strategy, regulatory navigation (TRAI/TDSAT), and public-private partnership structuring for companies entering or operating in India's telecom sector.

Relevant for: Telecom operators, ISPs, tower companies, equipment vendors entering the Indian market

Government Engagement Advisory

For companies bidding on or delivering government IT projects: procurement navigation, proposal structuring, stakeholder alignment, GFR/CVC compliance, and project execution within government governance frameworks.

Perspective: Five decades inside DoT, MTNL, and the BSNL Board — deep understanding of how government decisions are made

Organisational Transformation

Restructuring, convergence planning, and the human side of technology change — retraining workforces, aligning functional silos, and driving adoption at scale in organisations resistant to change.

Reference: Coordinated transformation mandates with BCG and Accenture at BSNL; built pan-India training centres for technology adoption

IT-Enabled Financial & Business Systems

Advisory on building IT-based financial platforms, payment systems, e-commerce architecture, and fintech business strategy — from concept through technology selection and delivery oversight.

Recent: Served as Director, IT & Business Strategy at a financial services firm managing $2.4 billion in assets (2020–23)
